During the beta
The Mac app is free to download. Vocabulary definitions use the macOS dictionary. AI annotations through Summa’s server require an approved beta code; access is currently free.
Request a code with your email. I review requests and send codes manually, so access is not instant. Keep your code private. I can pause or revoke beta access to manage capacity or misuse.
Using your own Anthropic key
You can enter an Anthropic API key under Settings → Premium AI Account → Advanced: direct API key. Clear any beta code and sign out of an existing Summa session to use the direct path. When beta or session credentials are present, the app tries Summa’s server first.
Anthropic bills usage on your API account under its current rates. Your bill depends on how much text the app sends and how often the window changes. Check your provider’s usage dashboard and spending controls before enabling it.
Provider limits still apply. Summa has no per-user daily spending cap in its current proxy code, and this page makes no per-chapter cost estimate.
Future pricing
A paid Summa plan has not been announced. Any future offer will state its price and billing terms before you choose to pay.
Before you enable AI
AI requests include visible window text and its title. Read how the app uses screen access and the Privacy Policy. Your use of Summa is covered by the Terms of Service.
